We are featuring now Lucy and Paul’s big day thanks to their amazing photographers, Story of Eve. The venue for their elegant destination wedding was a stunning manor in the countryside of Ireland, and the beautiful bride said yes in a custom-made Daalarna dress. Here’s their story!
Lucy and Paul’s story
According to Story of Eve’s blog post, Lucy has been working in the fashion industry in New York for over eight years, her current position is Sales Manager at Denimist, but she has also previously worked at Tibi and Solid & Striped. Paul is a software engineer, currently running his own fintech startup.
The engagement took place on a road trip in the summer of 2020 in a fabulous US national park. The wedding took place in the autumn of 2021.
The concept of the Ireland destination wedding
The main concept for the wedding was to be intimate, cozy, moody and autumnal.
The American couple’s wedding planner, Alise Taggart, helped them find the perfect venue in Ireland. When she sent them over the photos of Adare Manor, one of the top hotels in the country, it was love at first sight for Lucy and Paul. It was perfect for the stylish, autumnal feel they had envisioned for their big day.
It was a big leap for the couple to think about a destination wedding in the middle of a pandemic, but luckily, everything worked out for the best despite Ireland being one of the most heavily regulated European countries during the pandemic. Perhaps the only bittersweet memory is that a last-minute change in the law meant that the curfew, which was originally set to start at 2:30 am, was changed back to midnight just before their wedding. They were a bit annoyed about this, as they had originally planned a party that would last into the night, but then realised they were lucky to have kept the big day at all.
The bride’s Daalarna wedding dress
According to Lucy herself, she found Daalarna on Instagram and was thrilled to find out that the collections were available at our partner store Alta Moda Bridal, not far from her hometown. She found her favourite dress in the FOLK collection, but with a few specific requests, she completely customized it to her own image, so in the end it was actually a completely custom-made Daalarna dress. Lucy specifically mentioned in her testimonial that „Daalarna was so accommodating and easy to work with” and they really nailed her vision. As an added bonus, the couple ended up spending their honeymoon in Budapest which happens to be the city where Daalarna is based.
