“After exchanging our vows more than one hundred relatives and friends were waiting for us outside the office. Everyone sang while waving flowers and balloons high in the air. It was an indescribable feeling!”
Tineke and Christian had been together for eight years when they decided to get married, “The proposal happened on a little Thai island, we were snorkelling when Chris suddenly disappeared under the water and reappeared with a little box, in the depth of which was a ring! I was speechless with happiness!”
After their engagement they returned to their home in North Germany, but as they were planning to start new jobs in Austria in two weeks, they had to choose the date and venue with record speed. The groom’s father suggested a hotel which they finally booked for the big day.
The young couple kept some of the region’s wedding traditions. One of these is the Veil Dance, or Schleiertanz, where the bride and groom are covered by the veil and guests can throw money onto the veil to dance with either of them. “In the evening there was an enormous party, wherever we looked we were surrounded by friends. It was the highlight of the day that we could celebrate together!’”
After the wedding, the couple relaxed in the Austrian mountains. Tineke brought her wedding dress with her, so they were able to have a creative photoshoot in the beautiful scenery.
