At the end of August, Barni Abosi – one of the most recognisable faces of the YouTube generation and a successful content creator – and his beautiful bride, Márti Imre, said “I do.” Their ceremony, held surrounded by nature in Kehidakustány, and the celebration that followed reflected their personalities in every detail: playful, effortless and deeply intimate. In this exclusive interview, Márti and Barni share the behind-the-scenes moments of their wedding day for the very first time – from the early stages of planning to the creation of Márti’s special Daalarna gown, which left every guest in awe.
Looking at your wedding photos, there is such an effortless, natural feeling to them. It is clear that you weren’t trying to create a “perfect wedding” simply because that is what is expected, but rather a day that truly reflected who you are. Have you always approached things this way, staying true to yourselves from the very beginning of your relationship? Was the proposal similar?
Barni Abosi: We definitely wanted the focus to be on our happiness rather than the spectacle. We wanted to spend the evening celebrating freely with the people who mean the most to us—without feeling the pressure of traditions or expectations. The proposal was very similar. I knew that I wanted it to be just the two of us. To this day, we haven’t told anyone where it happened or exactly how. Perhaps we can reveal one thing: it was on the other side of the world, in the most magical surroundings. :))
From the very beginning of planning, how conscious were you about creating a wedding according to your own rules? Did you allow other people—your family, friends or even your audience—to influence what your big day should look like? Was there a moment when you deliberately said: this is just about us?
Barni Abosi: After the proposal, there was never a question in our minds that we wanted to experience and shape this day in the way that felt most true to us. We kept this in mind throughout the entire planning process. We had a very clear vision of the day: a smaller, intimate and family-oriented wedding, where shared moments—not formalities—would take centre stage.
It was important to us that no one felt uncomfortable or restrained. We wanted everyone to simply be present, feel free and experience this special occasion with us in the most natural way possible.
We feel that, in the end, the day turned out exactly as we had imagined.
Barni, as a content creator, you are used to certain parts of your life being constantly in the public eye. When it came to your wedding, how important was it to keep some moments just for the two of you? And how much does knowing that so many people are watching influence your decisions?
Barni Abosi: I do share a lot about myself and about us, but there has always been a healthy boundary. I owe so much to my followers, and I wouldn’t feel it was fair to completely leave them out of the journey they have, in many ways, helped make possible. At the same time, they understand that middle ground and respect where I choose to draw the line. It’s a little like making a travel video about a week-long trip. From an entire week, you create a fifteen-minute video with the most important moments—but the remaining seventy-five percent stays private and remains part of our own experience. Of course, knowing that people are watching us has made us more responsible in certain ways, but we have remained true to ourselves. For me, it will always be important to remain the same “normal guy from Sopron.”
Was there a moment or detail at the wedding that you chose specifically because it didn’t necessarily fit into the traditional wedding script? Was there something you knew from the very beginning that you wanted to do your own way?
Barni Abosi: We didn’t feel particularly attached to traditions, so we allowed ourselves to move away from the usual and be open to new ideas. One of those ideas was replacing the traditional midnight stuffed cabbage with cheeseburgers and French fries for our guests—who may not have been thirsty anymore, but were definitely hungry. It was such a huge success that people still regularly tell us what a great idea it was. We also prepared a few surprises. For example, we organised a raffle, and the entry requirement was drinking a shot of pálinka—which certainly helped set the mood for the party. Everyone loved it, and the prizes were a huge success too. Guests could win a crate of beer, gift vouchers, board games, coffee and several other fun surprises.

Márti, your short, transformable Daalarna dress was also such a modern and playful interpretation of bridal fashion. How important was it to you that your gown was more than simply “a wedding dress”—that it truly reflected who you are and the way you wanted to move, feel and simply exist on your wedding day?
Márti Imre: It was very important to me that my dress reflected both me and my everyday style. I wanted to look back at the photos years later and still see the Márti I am in my everyday life. I didn’t want to feel as though I was wearing a costume just for the sake of the wedding, which is why I imagined my hair and makeup in a natural, understated way as well. It was important that both my dress and my entire look reflected my personality, while allowing me to move freely, dance, sit down, laugh and simply be myself. That is exactly why I loved the idea of a transformable dress. The same gown could create a completely different mood during different parts of the day. This approach felt much closer to the way we imagined our wedding: elegant, but never rigid; personal, yet playful, free and effortless.

Did you know from the very beginning that this was the dress you wanted, or did you develop the design together with Anita Benes?
Imre Márti: I would say I had much clearer ideas about what I didn’t want. The only thing I knew for certain was that I wanted to stay within a natural, minimalist aesthetic. Starting from there, we began developing the direction together until we found something that truly felt like me. I knew I wanted a two-in-one dress: one look to say “I do” in, and another that would allow me to celebrate the day freely afterwards. The sketches and our personal meetings continuously reassured me that what I had imagined in my mind was slowly becoming reality. It was incredibly special to follow the entire process and watch a first idea gradually turn into a real dress—until, in the end, I could honestly say: this is completely me.

What was the atmosphere like during your fittings at the Daalarna salon?
Márti Imre: It felt incredibly relaxed and free, and I always had the feeling that the entire team was truly focused on me. Perhaps the best part was that I never felt, even for a moment, that anyone was trying to force a particular idea on me. Instead, we thought together. They listened to what I wanted, and at the same time, the dress continued to evolve. With every fitting, we came a little closer to what I had imagined.
It was such a special experience to watch the first sketches and ideas gradually become a real dress, created specifically for me. Because of this, the fittings were never only about seeing how the dress looked on me—they also meant getting a little closer to the big day every single time.
What did you feel when you finally tried on the finished dress? And what was Barni’s reaction when he saw you on the big day? What was it like experiencing your wedding in your dream dress?
Márti Imre: When I finally saw and tried on the finished dress, I felt incredibly relieved to see that the idea I had imagined actually worked in real life. I think many girls can relate to that moment when you have an outfit perfectly imagined in your head, but somehow it just doesn’t come together once you put it on—and how frustrating that can be. Well, thankfully, that definitely wasn’t the case for me.
I felt confident and beautiful in it, and I think that was one of the most important things: I didn’t just see a beautiful dress when I looked in the mirror—I truly felt like myself in it.
Every detail fell into place, and finally, the image I had only seen in my mind came together.
We first saw each other that day during our first look, and I was incredibly nervous. I really wanted Barni to see what I felt: how happy and confident I was standing in front of him. The dress played a huge part in that. From his reaction, it was immediately clear that he absolutely loved it—and, of course, there were tears during that incredibly intimate moment. For me, perhaps that was one of the most beautiful forms of reassurance: standing in front of him in a dress in which I truly felt beautiful and completely myself.
How closely did you follow traditions on your wedding day? Were there any wedding traditions you wanted to keep, and others you let go of without a second thought?
Barni Abosi: We had a very relaxed approach to traditions. Of course, we had a cake and a ceremony, but we tried not to give in to the pressure of feeling that everything had to happen in a certain way. Instead, we focused on creating a day that was truly about us—without unnecessary formalities or traditions that neither of us felt particularly connected to. We believe that was exactly what allowed us to feel completely free and relaxed.
We weren’t thinking about whether we were doing everything “the right way.” We simply experienced the day.
And our guests felt that too. You could really see them relax with us, letting go and celebrating without holding back. For us, that was one of the most important parts of making the wedding truly our own.

What was the wedding itself like? Looking back now, do you feel you managed to create everything you had dreamed of?
Barni Abosi: It was fantastic and simply perfect—even with the little mistakes along the way. There is so much planning and preparation behind a day like this, but every single minute of it was worth it. The entire day exceeded even our own expectations and turned out exactly the way we had hoped: relaxed, joyful and deeply personal. If we could plan it all over again, we wouldn’t change a single thing.
Are you planning a honeymoon this year?
Barni Abosi: We’re not planning a traditional honeymoon this year, but we do have a trip together to look forward to. This autumn, we would love to explore Tuscany. We’re really looking forward to wandering through the beautiful autumn landscape, eating delicious food, getting plenty of rest and simply taking a moment to slow down together after such an exciting wedding season.
What would you like to carry with you from the mindset you had while creating your wedding as you begin this next chapter of your life together?
Barni Abosi: We definitely want to carry forward the same sense of teamwork, patience and understanding that helped us organise our wedding. An event of this size involves so many decisions and tiny details, yet we managed to go through the entire process by supporting one another and working towards the same goal. We feel that gave us a really strong foundation and showed us that together, we can handle even the more difficult or stressful situations much more easily. We would also like to preserve the ability to slow down and truly experience the moment—whether it is a major occasion or an ordinary evening. At the wedding, the most important thing for us was simply being there with our family and friends, rather than constantly thinking about what was coming next. And we want to continue giving each other space and not overthinking everything: to preserve the lightness, spontaneity and openness with which we began this life together.
