We are incredibly proud that the Daalarna gowns are now available at more than 30 international retailers worldwide, including bridal boutiques in the USA, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Ukraine. In this column, we introduce you to some of our retailers from all around the world. This time, owners Alexandra & Melina answered our questions about 2 The Moon and Back, their incredibly stylish bridal shop in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Philosophy
‘Every place on earth houses a group of very special women. Women who are strong, fearless, self-confident, sensual, blissful, stunning and proud of being the better half of their besties. That’s why we have opened our paradise for wedding dresses called 2 The Moon and Back.
‘With the aim of offering alternative options evolving with the new generation of modern women, we sell dresses that are neither timeless nor classic.’

‘We sell unique dresses that perfectly match the personality and the strength of the brides of this moment in time, the modern bride of now. Before we opened our salon here in Lucerne, we always thought that it was a pity that we only have really traditional stores with a wide selection of classic wedding dresses here in Switzerland.
But the Swiss brides-to-be are not traditional or conservative at all. They’re willing to try something new.
They love trendy and extraordinary cuts of dresses, and they love to show the very best parts of themselves by revealing a sensual and very feminine appearance. Therefore, our aim is to offer our brides the best possible support in finding their perfect wedding dress, in order to find the one dress that underlines the personality, and emphasizes the advantages of every woman.’

‘The day a bride chooses the perfect wedding dress is a really special and unforgettable one. Therefore, we want to offer our brides an unforgettable experience with their friends and family. For this event, we always have only two brides at the same time in our boutique. It should be a private unforgettable event, accompanied by some prosecco, snacks and good music.’
The selection
‘The gowns in our bridal boutique are from all over the world and have one thing in common: With every dress, there is something special it stands for. Either the back or the front, the pockets in the skirt, the lace, the shape or the color. That’s why we only carry brands that personify something special and unique. The brand Daughters of Simone we see as the embodiment of all the free-minded hippies. Whereas the gowns of Madilane are really dreamy, romantic and sweet. For all of our straight and more elegant brides, we carry a selection of dresses of the designer Marylise. But there are still some women, who would love to wear a more classic wedding dress. Therefore, we also have some Rosa Clara dresses here in our salon.
Finally, Daalarna Couture rounds off our selection perfectly.
As many of our brides, we discovered the brand on Pinterest and we really could say it was love at first sight. The design of romance in combination with the right amount of sexiness and the really feminine cuts are so loved by nearly all of our brides to be. In addition, the dresses are really light and comfortable to wear, which is really important if it’s like a summer wedding.’

Why Swiss brides love Daalarna
‘Most of our brides who once try on a Gown from Daalarna Couture don’t want to try on any other brands. Most of all they love the open back in combination with some special details in the front. The light flowing skirt is the perfect match to the special top. Especially the silky gowns are really popular. In general, we would say, that the Swiss brides love the extremely high quality of the Daalarna dresses as well as the absolutely unique designs of the tops. Furthermore, the option of having the dress as a body-skirt combination is really loved. The option of mixing and matching the different tops with all the different skirts ensures, that every bride finds the dress that reflects her personality the best.’

‘The American custom that a bride on her wedding day needs to wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue has also prevailed in Switzerland. Furthermore, nearly every Swiss bride doesn’t want her husband to see her before the ceremony. The first glimpse the man has of his stunning bride is simply unforgettable and therefore the couple wants to share this moment with all their loved ones.’
About the owners
‘As we both married or will marry in a beautiful Daalarna dress, we can understand that it’s a hard decision our brides have to make. But finally, for both of us, it was more or less love at first sight. We both chose our wedding dress by listening to our hearts. We saw our dresses at the fashion show in Budapest. These days we enjoyed and we had so many unforgettable moments and highlights. The designer and all the people working for her are extremely friendly and helpful. That’s why we have absolutely loved working with them for over two years now. We love the brand, their philosophy and of course all the amazing dresses.’
