With this recurring column, we introduce you to some of our retailers from around the world. In this article, owner Christine Rührlinger answered our questions about Hänsel & Gretel, their incredibly popular bridal salon in Gunskirchen, Austria.
What is the story behind your beautiful boutique?
Hänsel & Gretel was founded in September 1981 and developed very quickly to become Austria’s most important store for wedding dresses. Currently, we are the largest store in Austria, offering the widest selection of dresses from various brands and across all price ranges.
Our philosophy is “Come in as a customer, stay as our guest, and walk out as a friend.”
How would you describe the style of the bridal gowns in your salon?
We offer the widest range of bridal dresses, featuring every style imaginable, from simple minimalistic dresses to couture and princess styles. Whether it’s for maternity, formal weddings, or parties, the choice is almost endless.
Additionally, can you mention some of the brands you carry?
We carry around 65 brands from all over the world, including major players like Pronovias, Rosa Clara, Modeca, Mori Lee, Demetrios, Jesus Peiro, and couture brands like Tony Ward, Andrea Sedici, Made with Love.
How did you come across Daalarna, and what led you to choose us?
I am impressed by the quality, detailed perfection, and uniqueness in design. Moreover, being made in Europe, Daalarna dresses are modern, young, and always on trend. It is a great combination and the best cooperation for our store.
What types of Daalarna dresses are the most popular in your salon?
Currently, there is no specific style that is most popular. The brides’ choices have been a mixture of all styles.
What, in your opinion, draws brides to Daalarna?
I believe it is the lifestyle, modern romanticism, paired with the handmade quality, softness, and lightness of the dresses.
How would you characterize your customers in terms of style, personality, and taste?
This is a challenging question because we don’t have “typical” brides or customers. Having dressed up around 60,000 women and made them into brides, we have customers of all types, styles, and personalities from all over Austria, as well as parts of Germany, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic.
What types of wedding dresses are the most popular in your salon nowadays?
Due to the mix of brides, there is also a mix of styles.
Suppose an international couple is planning a destination wedding in your country. Could you recommend some of your favorite venues or vendors in the area?
Certainly, there are several great wedding planners around, and since we have been in this business for a long time, we are familiar with all the best in the industry.
