With this recurring column, we introduce you to some of our retailers from around the world. In this article, one of our Canadian retailers Blush & Raven answered our questions about their fantastic bridal salon in Calgary, Canada.
What is the story behind your beautiful boutique?
“Blush & Raven started with my own shopping experience: I was searching the Calgary market for luxury bespoke gowns that were unique and unconventional. At the end of my shopping journey, it was clear Calgary brides needed a welcoming space where they felt at ease and not overwhelmed. Fast forward 7 years later… we are so proud to offer a niche and luxury experience in this city to our brides and brides who travel to us” – says Liane Knox, owner & founder of Blush & Raven.
Our philosophy at Blush & Raven is to defy the norm. We offer our brides a unique, refined experience that empowers them to express their individual style. Our commitment to our brides is to always curate the latest, most fashion-forward bridal gowns from around the globe.
How would you describe the style of the bridal gowns in your salon?
We are proud to offer bridal collections from fashion houses and boutique ateliers within Canada and from around the world that are exclusively found at Blush & Raven in Alberta. Each piece is hand made which allows us and our brides to make the dress one of a kind. Our designers specialize in premium fabrics, versatility, and runway couture, and embrace the unconventional edge of high fashion glamour while balancing the softness and delicacy of the bridal world.

Daalarna Couture (of course), Alena Leena, Katherine Tash, Ines di Santo, NEWHITE, OUMA, House of Savin & more.
How did you come across Daalarna, and what led you to choose us?
Since opening in 2017, we have had our eye on Daalarna! The ethereal, feminine and couture feeling that Daalarna portrays as a brand is why we knew their gowns would be a perfect match for our bride. In 2020, word on the bridal street, Daalarna was on the hunt for new representation in our Province of Alberta. Immediately, we reached out knowing the quality of these gowns, and after meeting with Viktoria, it was apparent this would be a lasting business relationship. Quality, customer service and innovative designs all continue to impress us!
Which Daalarna dresses are the most popular in your salon?
IDL 492, OCN 415, and MRR 366 are the top choices of our brides.
What, in your opinion, draws brides to Daalarna?
The softness and delicacy of Daalarna’s pieces, the intricacy of the applique and the attention to detail and care put into every piece. We love it and therefore our brides love it!
How would you characterize your customers in terms of style, personality, and taste?
A Blush & Raven bride is looking to express her individual style. She is confident with who she is. She is a visionary. She is a modern-day romantic at heart but (every now and then) loves to live life on the edge. Her personality may be soft and subtle, or strong and vivacious. Regardless, she values quality, creativity & love.
What types of wedding dresses are the most popular in your salon nowadays?
We are seeing lots of girls coming in who genuinely want something unique. They love cool fabrics, versatility in their look and a bit of an edge. They are also loving a unique take on a classic style!
Suppose an international couple is planning a destination wedding in your country. Could you recommend some of your favorite venues or vendors in the area?
We would recommend The Palliser at Fairmont. Calgary is such a new and vibrant community and it’s so nice to have a bit of an old-world feel that The Palliser gives. We have had nothing but amazing experiences with Jackie Kalch in terms of photography. Both Coven Creative & Series by Court offer amazing decor and floral options as well! For any wedding planning, Moments by Madeleine is absolutely the best in the business here in Calgary!
Why do you like weddings in general?
We love weddings simply because we love love. Seeing two people create their version of their perfect day is truly amazing and as a bridal boutique, we love getting to be a part of this journey for our brides. Helping them find the dress that makes them feel like the very best version of themselves is the very heart of what we do.
